Not Plan A....!

This is where I was planning to be at 11am today.....and instead, I was here (that's me in the pink hat!).

I got a call at 8.45am from the British Divers Marine Life Survey asking if I could help out with a stranded minke whale on NB beach. It was almost outside my flat. The local coastguard were on scene and soon some of my lifeboat buddies came along to help.

Members of the East Lothian Countryside Rangers soon arrived and thankfully took over the organisation. However, it soon became apparent that the conditions were too rough to float the whale back out and it got so rough we couldn't even stay in the water and support it so it's blowhole was out of the water.

I eventually went home at about 1pm. There was nothing more I could do and the Rangers were waiting for the vet to arrive to put it down :-(

I was mentally & physically exhausted and took the day off. I spent most of the rest of the day lying on the sofa - and I must reschedule my chiropractor appointment tomorrow.....
