Maids of the mist @ Halong Bay
This morning brought the mist again such that our captain has to grope his way for about an hour to get us to our morning event. These boats have no radar, and no many other safety equipment for that matter, but they do have charts, and a young, expendable person to lean over the bow to watch for obstructions.
Our visit this morning was to an enormous cave system which was really spectacular. Difficult to show in a photo so I'll content myself with a fog snapshot.
After the cave excursion, where we managed to avoid purchasing any of the tacky, and not so bad, souvenirs, available at 3 or 4 bottlenecks throughout the complex.
Back to the boat for a lie down in the emerging sun until lunch, then back to port for the bus transfer back to Hanoi. All, went without a hitch and we are now back in our hotel wrestling with what (not) to wear tonight to the concert & ballet. Shorts & flip-flops or proper claes?
Tell you how that went tomorrow, but don't get too excited guys.
