Big Red Shoes
"Yep yep, definitely going to be a sunshine powder day tomorra" I confidently announced to our new guests over my highly informed welcome speech yesterday.
Predictably so, I was wrong.
And I'd offered out ski orientation to them- essentially guiding them around the mountains. Worringly so, since my various incidents in white-out situations at the beginning of the season I've always opted for skiing on the nice safe flats of the deep valley- so this was going to be interesting. It also helped that they were far more advanced + experienced skiers than me, so their 'guide' soon turned into a panting straggling mess trying to keep up with them; bellowing in a less than confident yelp several metres behind; "left", [then to myself] "I think?."
I was so relieved to finish my shift without getting anyone lost off the face of the earth. It was straight into my big red boots then time to attach myself to the one-plank + haul back to the nurseries to fall on my butt for the remainders of the dark grey, blissfully snowy day.
