The end of the meteor trail

A meteor streaked across the skies from Wellington to Christchurch tonight and I saw it! Unfortunately my camera was not handy so my image is nothing like this one. I saw a large bright white light like magnesium burning, the trail in the sky and then the light disappearing.....

I had no idea what it was so I called to Anton and Dave and described what I saw and Ants said that's what it would have been. The trail had been hanging in the sky for a good 4 mins before I thought to go grab my camera (what is wrong with me????)

Anyway that faint horizontal line that goes just under the street light was all I was able to capture. Not a great blip as it is but it will be a reminder of what I saw.
