My presentation at the Camera Club went very well. I explained how I was trained as a military photographer. I spent many years working on aerial cameras, operating and maintaining them as well as processing and printing the aerial film, then worked on high speed cameras used in testing and engineering units where I also maintained and repaired cameras as well as processed all the film footage. It was not until my second decade in the military that I really got to hone my skills as a shooter while I worked in a photo section where we provided photo services to the entire base and were called upon to do location and studio work, industrial photography, PR photography, photojournalism, forensic photography, etc, while still operating and maintaining the film processors and printing minilabs.
As I was describing my former career, it almost felt as though I was talking about someone else. I retired 10 years ago, at age 39, after a 21 year career and am now living such a different life. I have fond memories of my military career and no regrets. I was quite happy then, and I am quite happy with my life now.
