I blipped my first wood mouse nearly two years ago in the same hedge. I guess this one is a descendent of the first one. Their life expectancy is not very long; almost all other creatures in the woods are after them :-(

Anyway, since they're everybody's lunch, they have developed a remarkable survival strategy. If a wood mouse is caught by its tail, it can quickly shed the end of it, which may never regrow. Amazing, isn't it? I thought it was a reptilian thing (although their tails do regrow).
