Golden. Eagle.

I could tell you where I saw this Golden Eagle, but then I'd have to kill you. Or something. You see it would be breaking the law, as after watching and snapping one flying about he made for a break in the rock, and I could just make out the back of a second. I 'think' this is the nest. So no more photos, and I can't reveal where it is...

This is a crop, we weren't that close, but it was a hard choice of which shot to use here (linked below, the simple headshot being the other favourite).

Anyway, what is it about the Isles and our cars? Our first Mini, a no-frills ONE came back from its first Skye trip with a cracked windscreen from an errant stone flung up by a truck coming the opposite way, while its second trip resulted in a puncture; our second Mini, a lovely Cooper S, had its handbrake decide to have an off-day and after sitting for 20 minutes on Harris, let the car roll gently back into a rounded rock (fortunately the damage was pretty minor); then this year our new Clubman Cooper S seems to have developed a serious overheating problem after failing to start first thing. The timing is incredible, but hopefully there will be no problems making the ferry tomorrow... Maybe it's just Minis and the Isles?

Anyway, yesterday's stroll ground the headland seems to have proved a little too much for Mel's leg, so walking was curtailed to a saunter down to Mangurstadh beach, before a drive further down the coast and then up to Mangurstadh radio tower (apparently an air traffic transmitter).

The car's troubles transpired just after we'd got the stunning close views of the Golden Eagles.

Limping home the warning lights disappeared, so fingers are firmly crossed for the morning. We're now sitting enjoying the tide rolling in for the last time, planning in coming back for two weeks next year when we can go walking properly, hoping that we get one last look at the resident otters.

So once more fingers are crossed...
