Hand Fed Heron

Erik has been feeding and training the herons in Frederiksbergs Have for thirteen years now. They come when he whistles and a few of them will eat from his hand (he holds out both hands and they pick one - they always pick correctly). He was a talkative chap who has many stories about these birds, like the time they followed him to the local shopping centre or when 31 of them turned up to his birthday when he had only invited 4. He is somewhat of a local celebrity, often to be found here, with his friends. Standing within a meter of these impressive creatures as Erik fed them and told me his stories was quite a treat.
