Excessive softening was the best thing that could have happened to this picture. I feel a little queasy just looking at it, and feel proud in the knowledge that very little of this masterpiece was my idea! Basically, whilst travelling in South America my friend and I developed an unhealthy obsession with a Peruvian foodstuff known as Manjar Blanco. It's basically just dulce de leche, but can be purchased in convenient, ready-to-scoff packets. It's no wonder I came home nearly two dress sizes bigger than when I left, we used to eat the stuff with everything. My friend decided to bring a few packets home as a souvenir, and today, together with some friends, she unearthed a 2 year old packet of the stuff and suggested we make a cake with it. The teeth and lips sweets were not my idea.
