Ian is Here!

This is Ian. He is our good friend and one of those folks in my life who feel like family even though we are not related by blood. We have known Ian for about ten years. We first met him when we were his host family when he came to the college where I worked with a group of students from the Netherlands. He was going to become the coordinator of the program so he came for ten days that first year. We bonded immediately and we were his host for every year after that. Then two years ago they cancelled the program. Ian came anyway and brought his wife Jerien with him. We had a great visit together and they even handled the fact they got stranded with us due to the volcano in Iceland with aplomb. Last year we went to visit them in their home in Friesland. Here are Jerien and Arvin at a church near their home in Friesland. Meanwhile his college reinstituted his program and now he's back with another group of students. He'll be staying with us for three weeks. We are delighted!
