Scrawny Old Man

It's a beautiful day

Alan and Dave getting to the top of Stob Binnein with Ben More in the background.
Cooler than the last few days and 9 of us started up Ben More in cloud, with a light shower. It was a knee-grinding slog - a steep and unremitting 1000m ascent from road to summit - that had some of us (well, me anyway) thinking 'Whose stupid idea was this?' - but by the time we got to the top of Ben More it was bright and the views were great - especially the enticing one of its more elegant twin, Stob Binnein, ahead. Mrs RT has blipped the view of Stob Binnein from Ben More.
At the top of Stob Binnein in sunshine and exceptionally clear air the views were even better and stretched as far as the mountains of Arran and Jura in the west. Closer, to the east, Loch Tay stretched out below Ben Lawers. Ben Lui was elegant and snow-capped.
The descent wasn't as bad as Mrs RT had predicted and we finished off a great day with hot chocolate in the Luib Hotel.

PS it was Dave's idea - but whose stupid idea was it to go with him?
