Birthday Girl

Stopped to take this rare snap of Marie on our way into the pueblo to celebrate her 43rd 53rd, 33rd or something third birthday. We are lucky to have one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten in right on our doorstep. El Xato in La Nucia serves some very imaginative cuisine. Amongst our vast array of dishes included on the tasting menu last night was a tomato gazpacho and prawn soup with lime flavoured ice cream (it really does work), oxtail cooked slowly and wrapped in a crepe, artichoke with seps, Spanish black pudding and truffle sauce and shank of beef cooked slowly for 22 hours until it just fell apart on the fork .That made up about half of the dishes not to mention a different wine with every course. Well recommended.
