The sun sets quite early out here. By 7pm it's dark. This timing doesn't really change much between summer and winter (the only two seasons we have) unlike the UK where it's light until late evening (I think).

Similarly, sunrise (about 5.30am) is pretty much the same time throughout the year as well. The contrast to the UK being that you don't get those dark mornings where it's like going to work in the middle of the night.
