Between fen and mountains

By Tickytocky

I'm not scared of cows.

Saturday is market day and after the obligatory ten minutes wait behind two people in the butcher's, I finished the shopping and went home to plan a walk. It is true that I could complete the said purchases in half the time at home and would not have to listen to all the village gossip in every queue but where is the fun in that? Better to take one's time and accept that everything moves slowly here. So I set off for a couple of hours rambling around local cols listening to the birdsong and the clinking of cow bells. At one point I came across a single cow on the top of a ridge. My identification was called into question when it started snorting and pawing the ground. A few other beasts sauntered up. I could not only see its head and as there was a steep slope between me and the animal, my retreat was not as fast as it might otherwise have been! I took some more shots of the walk and the cows which can be viewed here.
