Snakeshead Fritillary

Hand to hand combat with deeply entrenched buttercups in the garden today, not going to be an easy job, but some progress made.
I'd seen newts in a pond last night but although I got some decent images the light had gone and they would have made a brown muddy blip. Would have liked to go and snap them this afternoon but stayed and fought the good fight with the rampant Rananculus!
This wee patch of fritillaries is thriving, seeding themselves in the clay soil, I look forward to having more next year.
