Digging Holes

The gasman commeth. The gas pipe replacement project in our area of Liberton has now reached us, as this picture outside our house shows.

It also shows that it's in Beauchamp Road which was in the news yesterday because that's where our neighbour Alan McKinney lives. He's the clever man who got the project underway to employ offenders to dig some other kind of holes as part of the restoration of the 'unsafe' gravestones which had to be flattened in Liberton Brae cemetery. And very successfully too, as many other councils are showing interest. Too difficult for them to have worked out for themselves, so well done Alan.

Had to take our dog Brodie to the vet this afternoon. He's had 'the runs' since Wednesday night, and today the colour changed to dark reddy brown which worried me considerably. Maybe he swallowed some nasty stuff when the black lab pinned him down in a mucky part of the braid burn last weekend and he's got an infection? In any case, the vet gave him a good checkover and said it was most likely he had picked up some sort of virus. He's perky enough and his temperature is normal, so a couple of antibiotic and anti-inflamatory jabs later, and with some tablets to take for his digestive system, we both trotted out of the vets quite happy. (I'm still concerned though about the small piece of plastic bag he 'stole' from a wee spaniels last Saturday or Sunday morning, but the vet said it was unlikely that this was connected to his current ailment. Hopefully he has already ejected it and I haven't noticed.)

Off on the final day of my coaching refresher course tomorrow at St Georges & St Davids, so Shambelliewoman's in charge. Looking forward afterwards to going over to my sister-in-law's in Corstorphine for tea and a few drinks with friends. Nice way to end the week which has been glorious. Shame it has to end as dark clouds are forecast for Monday!
