The Hebridean Princess
It is hard to believe that when my wife and I were married in 1977 we went on this ship from Uig to Tarbet in Harris for our honeymoon. At that time she was owned by Caledonian MacBrayne and she was a ferry.
She has been converted to a luxury Cruise Ship that sales around Scotland visiting many small communities.
Back in 1977 it took about three hours to off-load and re-load her as she had a lift just infront of the bridge and vehicles had to be dropped down into the hold. It was a long slow process. Not like todays roll-on/roll-off ferries which can turn around in about twenty minutes.
Just this side of her in the photograph is the vessel 'Enchanted' whose skipper fishes for Langoustines and Crabs using the traditional creels.
Both are just inside the entrance to Loch Portree.
