The "Everyday" Waterfall
One day, not too long ago, I was talking to Son about waterfalls. He asked if I ever had seen the one along Route 21. Huh?
The next time we were driving along the aforementioned road, Son pointed the waterfall out to me. It didn't seem like a big deal. I thinked him for showing me, then didn't really think about it anymore. The waterfall is situated parallel to the road and probably not fifty feet from the road.
Late this afternoon, Husband, Son, and I were off to Canandaigua. It was a rather dismal day, weatherwise, beginning with heavy, wet snow falling this morning. As we came up near the waterfall's location, I asked Husband if he might pull off to the side of the road.
I walked over and was totally surprised by this beautiful little gem, so close and yet so far! The part that is visible from the road is maybe about eight or ten feet of drop. But then, the water continues to drop down maybe another thirty feet!
I felt like an explorer who had just discovered a most wonderful new location! I took several shots, but chose this one. Although the branches and bramble are a bit distracting, I liked the big knotted tree root at the bottom of the frame.
How many things do we *not* see everyday that are right in front of us?
