Looking Up
This is on the ceiling of the tower of Trinity Church in Theale. The tower is said to be copy of the bell-tower that once stood in Salisbury near the entrance to the Cathedral Close. This was demolished in 1790, but prints and drawings of it show that except for the buttresses and other Salisbury detailing, there seems little similarity between the two towers.
There is a a stone vaulted open passage runs beneath at ground level, leading into the burial ground. This is taken there looking straight up. I think the workmanship on this is amazing and it has aged beautifully. It sets off the surrounding stonework really well.
Above this is the ringing chamber.
