Peacock butterfly

The flower is a bergenia which is particlarly splendid this time of year. It has very large leaves so it is sometimes called elephant's ears. The leaves turn a reddy colour in autumn. It is in a friend's garden. I cannot seem to grow it well- mine struggles along looking straggly and never flowers.
