Oh, and that bulb that lights the heater switches - the dashboard has to be dismantled, so that will take 1 1/2 hours.
Total (estimated) cost - £1200 !!
Bloody hell.

If I was staying in my present job - 9 miles away, I would just get rid of it and cycle every day.
But I am starting a new job 2 weeks today, 40 miles away.
If the weather was constantly dry and the road was reasonably flat, I might try it.
So the car gets fixed.
