Hazy Horizon
The horizon's rather hazy and belies the deep blue sky
and dazzling sun this afternoon that closes up my eye.
I've paddled in the sea today, on March the twenty-eighth;
cold water, but not achingly, although I couldn't bathe.
It feels as though kind summer is holding out a hand,
inviting spring to recognise, it, too, can make a stand,
outwitting tired old winter, by bringing warmth and hope.
"Not likely," warns the weatherman, "don't put away your coat;
next weekend temperatures will drop, the biting wind return;
Ne'er cast a clout till May is out - will people never learn?"
Yet nobody can take away this summer's day in spring;
so come back winter; come back cold; you've lost your wicked sting.

What a lovely walk we had, including a brief sunbathe on the beach and a paddle. Shame it isn't forecast to last a little longer as we have a special family weekend away planned for this weekend for Mr PP's Big Birthday.
Today we walked down to Landcombe Bay (in the photo, with Start Point lighthouse on the horizon); then up again along the coastal path, and down to the next beach, Blackpool Sands. Didn't even have to clock-watch. Joy!
