Mr. Liang. From poverty to prosperity

Mr Liang, 48, came to Shenzhen 25 years ago from a coastal village in Guangdong province which he described a dirt poor.

When he arrived in Shenzhen he had only an education up to middle school and in his pocket he had just 5 RMB (50p / 80 US cents)

He got a job his working on a construction site, he studied engineering in his free time, to qualify as an engineer. He got married within 3 years of arriving to a young lady with a university degree. Very few people had degrees back then in China.

Several years ago he set up his own business to help Chinese students study abroad His dream is to go to university ideally in an English speaking country. Maybe Australia that's where is son is studying right now.

One of his unrelenting goals over many years has been to learn English the Financial Times is a bit tough for him yet still he's undaunted. Mr. Liang's not 'rich' but he's certainly prosperous.

I admire people who aren't work shy and have a can do attitude; I wish there were more...
