Birdie

When my daughter was young, she suffered recurrent ear infections, which resulted in many visits to our local pharmacy. Subsequently, I often purchased a Beanie Baby along with the usual co-pay for the meds, and small box of homemade fudge.

This cardinal was purchased because it was my mom's favorite bird, and I thought that it would be a nice reminder of her love for my daughter.

My friend from England, Richard Pierce-Saunderson, recently had his first novel published. One of the main characters in the book is a feisty young woman, aptly named "Birdie."

After finishing his lovely book, "Dead Men," I couldn't help but want to honor Richard in my own quirky way.
