Trompe l'oeil
I had half an hour to kill in Lewes early this evening and remembered this trompe l'oeil mural in Friar's Walk. It depicts a medieval friar pushing a barrow in a vegetable garden, perhaps at Lewes priory, which stood not far away. In the foreground is a trug - a wooden Sussex basket - and in the distance are the traditional Sussex red cattle. The mural is by a local artist (Dominic Ramos). Its been around for a few years now and is somewhat faded but still rather effective.
