Horton Park

The weather lured me out for a lunchtime stroll to Horton Park, which is about ten minutes west of campus.

In comparison to my last visit, there were more people out enjoying the sunshine, but I still feel a bit of an imposter here. It's a neighbourhood park, and I felt more than unusually self-conscious about taking pictures. This is one of the two main features of the park, the other being a disused fountain. This is also the only sign of planting in the park, most of the other flower beds lie bare. Compared to its more glamorous neighbour, Lister Park, Horton Park seems negelected. In former days, there was a bandstand, and today there are traces of old water features, a fossil tree stump and an interesting lake and bridge, but all is in need of some care and attention.
