"Threadbear"
This is my much loved old Ted "Brumus" who has been with me all my life and before me he belonged to my brother, who sadly died aged 3 before I was born, so this bear is very special to me. Today would have been my brother's birthday so I felt this was an apt blip for today.
Brumus has travelled around the world with me and is a bit the "worse for wear" these days, almost blind in one eye (due to a cataract.....well one eye has gone dull!). I did give him a "makeover" a few years back and made him new pads for his paws (they had to be slightly oversized to cover his very threadbare limbs) and I also re-embroidered his nose and my mum knitted him a little sweater to cover his threadbare body! Poor old Brumus.
He was quite a famous bear as he was made as a comemorative bear together with his "Mother" Ivy, to celebrate the birth of a polar bear cub named "Brumus" at London Zoo in the late '40s. I still have Ivy as well, who has fared a bit better as she is larger so hasn't travelled with me so much and they are reunited every time I return to our house in the UK.
