Backwaters by Canoe, Kerala

We have a boat to ourselves with a crew of 3 to look after us. A night to remember! We cruised in wide waterways on the boat glimpsing people living their daily lives. Washing clothes, enjoying a morning bathe, catching a water taxi.

Just as the sun was going down we went on a canoe along some smaller waterways, full of water hyacinth, past laden mango trees (I wondered how you'd pick from the branches, but there were so many perhaps it didn't matter).

Lots of noises from two competing religious festivals capped off with a firework display.
