American Friends

Townsendia exscapa, one for my American friends. The stemless townsendia, also known as the Easter Daisy. It has many attributes of an alpine plant but in western Dakota is found mainly on dry plains. Having a wide range, from British Colombia to Nevada and northern Mexico, it does grow at up to 10,000 ft. A relatively large flower on a small plant, beautifully formed, do you begin to see why alpines do it for me?
