The science of coffee

In 2007 whilst working in Asia, I picked up one of these coffee machines: a Hario Syphon

Now I have worked as a translator for a coffee magazine in the country of coffee (Italy) & met the famous Illy coffee family, so I like to think I'm about of a know it all on the subject, but I never realised how geeky this contraption was nor the fact that some say it's the best way to brew coffee until 4 years later whilst spring cleaning the Hub finds it and wants to experiment. So this is our Sunday coffee trail :0)
