Half-Life 2 - The Cake

There was a certain amount of tension in the kitchen this afternoon as the commission to work on a Half-Life 2 cake was undertaken by the Junior Baker of the household on behalf of her little brother who was having his birthday party today, even though the 'big day' of his reaching double figures is tomorrow.

However, despite having cut half of my carefully baked base layer cake away to form the round and pointy shape, dear daughter pulled off the icing and decor well - although chocolate icing was used rather than the original orange of the design as the requirements had not been communicated to the shopper (me). I'd also missed the reverse side of the shopping list where the list of essential party items had been written, but we didn't really need any more food as there were plenty of savoury bites.

The boys seemed to have worked out their boisterous traits at Lazerquest, so the party went off without incident.
