Growing old disgracefully

Oh, I do like a well dressed table, if nothing else it distracts the attention from any errors in the cuisine. Tonight we have salmon, fennel, cream cheese and oat canapes, baked lamb chops with spciy tomato on a bed of broad beans in a brie sauce topped with crispy leeks and good old apple and blackcurrant crumble. Better still, we have two very special old friends coming to dinner. It's what it is all about!
