Art on the Railings

Feeling pretty tired but very, very pleased with how today's Art on the Railings showing went. This is a shot of my section.

There were three artists there today: me, a young woman called Daisy who was selling some fabulous illustrations of various parts of Norwich - in greeting card and print format, and a guy called Rory who is an art teacher who was selling framed watercolours and greeting cards of his paintings. As it was such a sunny day there were lots of people in the city and, more importantly, who were stopping to look at our work and talk to us.

Several of my friends dropped by which was really nice because it was a chance for them to see more of my work, and I sold five of my photos! Five! And only one of those was to someone I knew!

I also gave a photo to one of my friends as it was her birthday last week.

The images that sold were: this shot of winter sunlight; a photo of a pile of baskets for sale at the world market at WOMAD a few years ago, just as the sun was going down; a shot of a marble 'eye' sculpture on Hay Hill in Norwich; a long shot through the beach huts at Southwold and a black and white photo of a pushchair and some piles of clothing on the beach that looked like they had just been abandoned.

Daisy and Rory also did well with sales of their greeting cards, and a local restaurant owner has asked Daisy if she will do an illustration of his restaurant.

I'm definitely going to make this a regular outing, on the last Saturday of each month (so long as it isn't raining) as it's such a great opportunity to get my work exposed and to get feedback from complete strangers as well as make sales at no cost to me except my time.
