sketch no 45. Oil paint - painting at last!!

Actually managed to start an oil painting today. Scene from the Shetlands, which I photographed last summer, when we were there for our hols.

It's just the first draft / layer of paint, just to set the colours, shading etc. Then I have to wait for it all to dry (at least a week) before I can add on the next layer. I usually like to start of with the sky, as, for me, that dictates the tone of the rest of the painting, especially when there is sea involved.
