POO KEKO

This is no ordinary picture of a " Swamp Hen " or Pukeko. Its true it was taken by POO - But boy ! This poor bird (and a couple of others) is really in the poo! Foraging for its food in really poor conditions along the Ferrymead canal.
They must have a terrific constitution. Although it has a rather rural look about it with the green - in truth the green is "yuk"

We've had quite a lot of birds die since the earthquakes as the waterways have been badly effected due to upthrusted and lowering levels of liquifaction - causing, in some cases, lack of water flow. This area is pretty bad - but there you go! - they ( the pukeko's) seem to be oblivious to it all.
