Money

Another fine, if breezy, day today. I spent some of it brooding and grumbling to Ann about yesterday's budget after sorting bills and payments this morning.

My main complaint is the freezing of the age tax allowance, followed closely by the increase in the price of beer. It's not that I'm old enough (quite) for the increase tax allowance, but it would have been handy come the day, and will hit others in coming years who rely on a small works pension plus the state pension.

Ann says it will all come out in the wash, but it's the principle I'm objecting to.

As for beer; 5p on a price of a pint of beer, with ale already at a premium of about £3 to £3.50! I can't see how this will prevent supermarkets selling cheap booze to young drinkers whilst penalising the responsible real ale drinker.

Anyway we decided we still had enough coppers to go to our regular drinking hole for an Americano and Cappuccino to drown my sorrows this afternoon.
