Full circle
Today's blip is taken from almost exactly the same spot as the blip on the same date last year - the steps in front of Dynamic Earth. But instead of looking at the photographers who were, in a sense , sending us politicians off to an election, it is looking towards the Parliament where we , that is the SNP, have been back in office for almost a year.
22nd March 2011 was the day of dissolution of the last Parliament. No one knew then what the outcome of the election might be, with most predictions assuming that Labour would win, if narrowly. In fact the SNP won by a landslide, securing the first overall majority ever in a Scottish Parliament election - something that was meant to be impossible. And I was fortunate enough to record an unexpected record majority in Argyll & Bute.
It has been a very busy twelve months - a long and hard fought campaign, a return to the Education post and always lots and lots of constituency and Government work. But on a lovely spring morning walk to the Parliament there is time for a moment's reflection and perhaps even wry comment about the words that are on the notice at the centre of the picture .
This blip is also taken from the spot where the school trip was sitting in yesterday's blip, and my office window (from I where took that picture) is the end one , one floor down in the leftmost of the three joined modern bloocks - the building closest to Queensberry House.
