Housewife's Choice

It had to B........

A picture of Little B this evening. He's wedged himself behind the back cushion of the sofa and is absolutely sound asleep. We collected him from the vets around 5 this afternoon and brought him home where he spent quite some time familiarizing himself with his garden. He came home with a tight plaster wrapped around his foreleg which held the drip in place. I should have taken a photo but I wanted to get it off him quickly as it looked uncomfortable. He has a shaved bit now that he's been most interested in licking tenderly :)

He has two lots of meds to take, a syrup to be taken 2 hours before he eats and another tablet to take an hour later, one hour before eating. These are to help protect his stomach lining. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough off the mark and he didn't get the first lot until 6 pm which meant him having to wait until 8 until he was able to eat. I can tell you that by 7 pm he was going mad for food. I had cooked a little white fish for him and the smell was driving him insane. He barked at the door and at me and I felt so sorry for him as he was quite clearly trying to tell me that he was starving and he thought that I was simply not understanding.

Anyway, at 7.55 I caved in and fed him his little dish of fish and rice which was woofed down at an alarming rate. Surprisingly he hasn't thrown it up. I watched him like a hawk but he's puttered off to the sofa and seems none the worse for his ordeal. He will need to go back in a week to have a blood test to be sure that his kidneys are functioning okay. This has been an expensive lesson, £375 to be exact but I'm just so grateful that we haven't killed him!!!

My father in law seems to be feeling a bit better today. Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement yesterday, all very gratefully received :)
