White Sands...
Another breathtaking place - we truly do live in a beautiful world! White Sands was incredible! For thousands of years, westerly winds have deposited gypsum powder - eroded by the nearby San Andres Mountains, then it was washed down by rainwater and deposited into Lake Lucerno...creating the 275 sq miles of nothing but pure white sand - it looks like snow!
White Sands is also home to the US Missle Range test area - the park does shut down for 3 hours at a time to perform weapons testing - quite interesting, next time, I would love to visit the missle range. It's also home to the Trinity site - where the first atomic bomb was detonated - 1945.
This was definitely one of the most unusual and magical places that I have ever been to. Next time...definitely going during the sunset...I have the perfect image in mind...
Lots of pics to come...
**Changed up the picture...I can't wait to edit all of my shots...doing them a few at a time...
