Wild asparagus

It's that season again. The one that find all the villagers walking slowly along the hedgerows peering to find these slender spikes of wild asparagus. You need to 'get your eyes in' to spot them in the undergrowth, and you need to find plenty. But they are delicious lightly steamed and served with scrambled eggs. Raw they taste like freshly shelled small peas.

Unfortunately we have two dogs who absolutely love them so we have to be speedy to get to the spears first.
