Common Dog-Violet

The spaniel and I have been left to our own devices as Mrs L and our daughter left very early this morning for a visit to Edinburgh and St Andrews, continuing to look at possible universities for next year. For a change we went for a walk over the South Downs from Glyndebourne to Lewes. In the woods there were extensive patches of these common dog-violets, although some were rather more blue than violet.
