"Had some tomatoes."
"...buying a pennyworth of paradise..."
Victor Hugo, Les Miserables
The Nora Diary, Day 8
Got up at 6:30. Left for Waltham after seven o' clock. A half hour late getting to work.
Very warm in the evening. Freda and I went to the Waldorf to see "Les Miserables", after stopped for at time on the *Common to hear the band concert. Got home in good season. Had some tomatoes.
* Nora's future husband, Gordon was a descendant of the original owner of the Boston Common, Rev. Blaxton/Blackstone through his mother's maternal side. Quite a piece of real estate that we somehow missed out on!
The Waldorf info...
National Theatre (1911-ca. 1996)
733 Tremont Street
Located in Boston's South End, the National Theatre (the 3rd of that name) was yet another building designed by C.H. Blackall. In its day, the National was the largest theater in Boston with 3,500 seats and a movie projection booth built into one of its two massive balconies. Also known as the Hippodrome and the Waldorf Theatre, it was demolished in the 1990s to make way for an expanding arts center.
For the Record.
This day came in foggy and cooler, with sun and warm temperatures by 11. As they say in Machiasport, Maine..."This week is awful hot."
The Nora Diaries will continue till I run out of materials. The wildlife is still being well fed and nurtured and will be ready for their close ups when I'm ready again!
