The Rig

I thought this made for an interesting counterpoint to the more restful images of the last couple of days. It's a drill rig, one of those currently in use to drill deep holes into which something is pumped to stabilise old mine workings beneath our street. It, and others like it, have turned back gardens into fenced-off zones of mud, stone and grit. It's hardly a thing of beauty. But without it, our house might fall down. So it merits a blip, alongside the daffodils.
