Clothesline.
I woke up early today to sunlight streaming through the windows of Anna's house, so after lying in bed reading my kindle for a bit, I got up and made warm cooked strawberries and pancakes for breakfast. Anna and Fin got up just in time for us all to sit and eat breakfast and plan what we would do for the day. Anna and I had just about decided we would go for a nice long walk in the woods behind the house, but after Anna and I had wandered into the garden to hang out the washing we realised exactly how sunny and hot it was! By the time Anna had hung out her washing (my Blip for today), we were both far too hot, and went inside to change into summer dresses with bare legs to enjoy the sun.
We brought Fin out to the garden and set up a deckchair with a towel over it to give him a square of shade to lie in, and he seemed to have a lovely time wriggling about on a picnic blanket in just his nappy. Anna's neighbour said his car thermometer read 25 degrees when he got in, and once he started driving it only dropped to 19 in the breeze! We decided to abandon the walk and stayed in the garden all day today, we had a lovely salad for lunch and a relaxing day until the sun started to dip.
When the day began to cool down, we took the dogs for a walk on the riverbank opposite the house. Monday - Saturday it's a prime fishing spot for salmon and trout where it costs plenty of pennies for a day ticket to fish; however on Sundays the banks are empty, leaving us to enjoy the perfectly manicured grass and listen to big fat (safe, for the day) salmon jump in the water.
Thai curry tonight for tea, Anna makes a cracking veggie one. It was a perfect day and I even enjoyed walking from Anna's house into the town of Banchory in the pitch black, watching the millions of stars without the light pollution of Aberdeen to obscure them.
