Game of Life

Children of Mine are playing Game of Life after school today. One of my original MB games from my childhood, Game of Life is still manufactured today by Hasbro.

Here, Daughter of Mine is just about to find out whether she spins a 1 to land on the 'write a best-seller' space. Despite having drafted a potential best-seller at school today, she didn't get lucky and spin a 1 - shame, as we could have done with the 80,000 - pounds, dollars, beans? - that is advertised as the prize.

At the end of the game, players have to choose whether to go into the Retirement Home with a nice, steady income from a pension, or Millionaire's Mansion where you can speculate to accumulate, depending on how many status symbols (yachts, sports cars, racehorses and the like) you have purchased during your Game of Life.

In this age of austerity, I'm not sure the Family are headed for either of the two choices.
