Orion's Sword and the M42 Nebula (78/366)
So, Orion's Sword is visible in a clear, dark-ish sky as three stars. But allegedly it's more than that. There are more stars there, and some can be seen with the naked eye.
So, what would happen, I wondered,if I got some big Canon whites together and had a wee look? This is Orion's sword, shot with a camera, a 400mm lens, and a 2x teleconverter. Yes, no telescope.
The cloudy star in the lower middle is the M42 nebula, my first nebula shot.
You may get more out of this if you view it large.
There's more chat about Orion over on my blog at giles-guthrie.com.
