Well Propped Up

A bright and generally sunny Sunday afternoon: we went out for an afternoon drive and stopped off near Tarves for a brisk stroll to the top of the curiously-named Prop of Ythsie.

The walk is described in perfect detail here, and when you get to the tower, as this site succinctly puts it, "You can climb the dark, and bird mess caked stair to the castellated viewing platform at the top and the views are well worth it."

However, one should beware the utterly false impression created here that the Prop is Aberdeenshire's answer to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
