Through the square window

Today we went to visit the castle 'Burg Landshut' before leaving the Mosel valley.

The castle was built in 1291 on a hill overlooking the town of Bernkastel Kues as a home for the bishops of Trier. In January 1692, a fire broke out and left the castle in ruins and it has stayed in this state ever since. From here you get panoramic views over the town, the river and the surrounding vineyards.

Unfortunately it was a very grey and wet morning, but such an amazing view!
