The Bat

Not an obvious name but when we first moved here ten years ago the bar at the end of the street was called The Belfry. It is right beside one of the most Gothic churches in Edinburgh; Barclay Church. And the bar was affectionetly known by its regulars as "The Bat".

After some time it was bought over by Belhaven Brewery. And then it slid into disarray.

Regulars left. Beer turned bad and evening turned empty. They even tried to rebrand as "Henricks".

But then, a while ago, it changed from a managed pub to a tenancy. Small difference?

Might be sometimes but a couple took it over and the place is a world apart.

This is now a really good bar again.

What a change. Just goes to show what a bit of effort can make.

Just hoping we can do the same with the new flat.

Tired and exhausted.
