Washing machine

I know. Not exactly the most scintillating blip ever but it was a significant event today.

It is a sad reflection on our consumer society that so many things don't last and, when they do break down, they are not worth repairing.

My washing machine was only 31/2 years old but the pump failed. Weighing it up I decided that it was better value for money to buy a new one with a 3 year warrantee. Not better value for the environment though. However, as my Dad said, there's a good chance it will be sold for scrap as metal is so valuable atm!!!
